Interactive session with Ms. Laura Williams, U.S. Consul General in Hyderabad at Hotel Novotel Varun Beach, Visakhapatnam.
 

On 17th December 2025 VCCI members had an interactive session with Ms. Laura Williams, U.S. Consul General in Hyderabad at Hotel Novotel Varun Beach, Visakhapatnam. The meet commenced with opening remarks by our President, Mr. M Sudarsan Swamy, who warmly welcomed Ms. Williams and set the tone for an open and constructive dialogue. The response from members was overwhelming with active participation and thoughtful questions. Key issues raised included delays in business visa issuance, reduction in multiple trips for visa, visa facilitation centre in Vizag or atleast a dropbox facility for reduction of one trip during visa process, the importance of a common skill regulatory framework for the medical sector, support forums for small-scale entrepreneurs, development of a non-tech startup ecosystem and concerns regarding recent tariffs on seafood exports.

Ms. Williams was very receptive and approachable throughout the interaction addressing most of the queries raised and encouraging open discussion to further strengthen bilateral business relations. She assured members that matters beyond her immediate jurisdiction would be escalated to the appropriate U.S. authorities, reaffirming her commitment to fostering safer and stronger ties between the two countries. The interactive session lasted approximately one and a half hours and witnessed lively and meaningful engagement from members. 

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Mr. P. Rajesh, Secretary, VCCI. We thank all members for their active participation and valuable inputs, which made the interaction both successful and impactful.
