VCCI, Vizag is one of the oldest of such institutions in this part of the country as can be seen from its name when Visakhapatnam was known as Vizagapatam during the British Raj.     A news item was published in the Eenadu dated 29th Jan, 2013, the Department of Home of Government of Andhra Pradesh is proposing to introduce a new License to educational institutions, commercial establishments and industries in the state . The proposal makes mandatory to all the educational, commercial establishments and to industries and to take licence from the Department of Fire services, and the licence had to be renewed every year Further all the organizations to be covered under the proposal has to set up a separate group/ Department for prevention of fire accidents. Depending on the status of the establishment\ industry, the licence fee is fixed which varies from Rs 500 to Rs. 5,000. per annum. As per the information available from the Director General of Fire Services, Government of Andhra Pradesh, the said notification will be placed on the State Government website in two or three days.
